A student said something yesterday in my class that he’d heard from teachers for a long whiles (something I agree with, by the way).
I challenged him on it.
“How do you know?” I asked.
“My teachers have told me for years.”
“That’s a bad reason.”
And it is.
Speaking as a teacher: Don’t believe us. “My teacher told me so” is a terrible reason to tell people as you convince them of things.
You can trust your teachers and believe them, but if you’re going to try to convince others, you need to do your own research.
Do your own research, and do good research.
And then start talking to other people about what you believe.
