I ended up getting real tired and crashing around 5:30 this morning.
But close enough.
Why on earth would I do such a thing?
Simple: too much to do and not enough time.
I’m sure you can identify – sometimes life just ups and thinks your plate is way bigger than it actually is and then you’ve got to cram things in to catch up.
That was me.
I had a miniature mountain of grading already, but realized partway through the evening yesterday that I’d miscounted and messed up a good pile of it, so I had to redo it all. Then I remembered that I was starting new units in my classes today and hadn’t yet made or submitted the official plans. Oops.
So after fixing all that, I settled down to do the actual grading I needed to do.
It wasn’t fun.
And I didn’t even finish, either.
And today was a looong day.
But I lived! And I also recommend that you do NOT try this at home. Or school.
In case you don’t understand: all-nighters are really rare for me. I pulled a grand total of one in my entire college career, and this is my first or second one since then.
As a graduate, this was for work. But as a student, it was to cram info in before a test. And ugh. Not good.
Seriously: cramming is really pretty bad for you, and not just your body, either.
But sometimes, you absolutely positively have to get something done … and then you gotta do what you gotta do.
But if you are going to cram right before a test or due date, make sure you’re doing it the right way (and there is a wrong way!) – I wrote a whole post on the topic a whiles ago. Check it out: http://studypenguin.com/cramming/
Now I’m off to take a nap…
P.S. Looks like a Yeti tumbler is the popular option (not many folks voted though). I’m actually refining the idea and coming up with a package of a few awesome studying tools for the giveaway (including a Yeti!), so stay tuned!
