Last night I had the first migraine headache I’ve had in forever.
So today I have a “headache hangover” – still sensitive to light, noise and any kind of sudden head movement (like sneezing earlier was a rough time).
It’s times like this when going to school or work suuuucks.
Disclaimer: If you’re contagious, please don’t come to school. Please.
Anyway, when you do have to just suck it up and go, here are two things to keep in mind.
First, take the day one step at a time. If you think “ugh I’m never gonna make it until 3pm” or whenever school ends for you, you’ll be absolutely miserable. Take things one period at a time, and do your best to just be present where you are in that moment.
And second, communicate. I told my students today, “hey, not feeling too great” and it made it easier to manage things. If a student tells me, “Mr. Hart I’ve got a nasty headache today,” it does actually help me kinda keep that in mind as we go through class.
One step at a time and you’ll make it!
